Choose an area in your room. Purposefully shoot a photograph that is not effective. The exposure should still be correct but the photograph is boring, cluttered, confusing, etc. Then, taking the same area shoot another photograph but change perspective in some way to make the image effective. Don't move any of the objects. Move your camera and show the scene in a new way. Don't manipulate the image in any way using Picnik or another program. We want to see the original image you shot.
You may have to shoot several sets of photos of different areas in your room. Post the best set. Please identify which photo is the bad (ineffective) and good (effective) photograph. Also, explain what you did to make the photograph work the second time.
Through the week, please visit this blog several times and comment on each other's work. Critique what is working in the good photo and how the it can be improved. Everyone's photograph can be improved in some way and constructive criticism is an important part of growing as a photographer. I'll post some of mine too (gulp!).
Also, continue to practice using the manual setting on your camera. Use the light meter to determine how you should change the aperture or shutter speed to achieve correct exposure. The more you do it, the easier it will become.
Have at it. Challenge yourself and have fun!
